July - September 2008

We want to thank each of you for your prayers. In our last prayer letter, I reported that we were able to speak to several English classes. In September, Ingrid and I were able to go to two more schools and share the Gospel. There were over one hundred children in each of the schools. We were able to pass out tracts to the children. These schools are out in the country. Many of these children’s families live out in the country, and this may be the only chance we have of reaching them.

Our language studies are going well. Please pray that the Lord would give us understanding. One of our most useful phrases is “Fala de novo devegar, por favor” which is, “Please say that again slower, please”. I have started preaching in Portuguese on Sunday mornings. Last Sunday morning I was able to preach for twenty-five minutes. What a thrill it is to preach in their language.

Our current visas are one-year temporary visas. When we went to renew our visas, we were told that we would need some additional paperwork. They gave us a six-month extension to turn in these additional documents. Please pray that we wouldn’t have any problems getting our paper work taken care of. We praise the Lord they gave us an additional six months to complete the process.

As many of you know, Ingrid and I have wanted children for many years. We are currently looking into adopting children here in Brazil. Please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom and direction in this matter. Our most important desire is to fulfill the ministry the Lord has for us here in Brazil.

Please continue to pray that my language teacher, Wirley, would come to Christ. We have had some good conversations about salvation and about the Scripture. As we were memorizing some verses about salvation, he was writing the references down so that he could study them some more when he got home.
