March-April 2009
During the month of April, Bro. Steve Reyes came to visit for a couple
of weeks. He was able to go to several schools to present the Gospel.
He spoke to over five hundred students. What a blessing it was for him
to witness to the children in these schools. Please pray that the door
will remain open for us to go into the schools.
I have been preaching through the book of Galatians on Wednesday
nights. The people have told me that they enjoy the messages. Bro.
Charles Nichols has asked me to go through the book of James next. I
have found this to be more of a challenge than preaching a regular
message. Praise the Lord for the grace He has given us in learning the
language.
We started holding English classes at the church on Saturday mornings.
The classes are free for the people. The only stipulation is that they
have to attend one church service a week. We had a few visitors the
first couple of weeks. But now we are down to one man. He is a high
ranking enlisted soldier. It seems that many people would rather pay
for English classes than attend a church service. We are considering
moving the classes to another day to see if that will increase
interest.
We mentioned in our last prayer letter a young man, named João
Paulo, who was saved a few months ago and went into the military. All
the young men must show up for a compulsory one-year stint in the
military. They only need a certain number of young men each year.
Thankfully, João Paulo wasn’t needed, and has returned to
Formiga. Please pray for him as he grows in the Lord.
Prayer requests:
- Pray that the Lord would open opportunities to share the Gospel
- Pray that the Lord would use us to win souls
- Pray for the Lord to raise up more preacher boys.
- Pray for us as we continue to learn Portuguese
Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support. We count it
a privilege to serve Christ in Brazil on your behalf.
