October-December 2008

The Lord has been wonderful to us over the last few months.  I was able to preach the missions conference at the church in Formiga. It was a blessing to challenge the people in the area of missions. Many decisions were made during the week for the Lord. The people were faithful each night and increased their faith promise for the coming year.

During December, we were able to travel to Araras to visit with Leandro and Bruna. Brother Bob Nichols trained Leandro here in Formiga. Leandro is currently filling in for a missionary who is on furlough. I was able to preach several times while we were there. The people enjoyed the preaching and the fellowship. Leandro and his wife Bruna recently had a baby boy, Kevin. Please pray for them. There were complications when Kevin was born. While he was in the hospital and he developed a staph infection. The staph infection caused him to have a heart attack, and he stopped breathing for about forty-five minutes. This resulted in possible brain damage.

Please pray for us as we begin our second year serving the Lord in Brazil. We are excited to see what the Lord is going to do here. We are expecting that all the members of our team will arrive later this year. We are praying about exactly where God would have us begin planting churches. There is such a great need. There are so many cities in need of a Gospel witness.

Please continue to pray for Wirley. I have had many opportunities to witness to him. Please pray that he will see his need for Christ and be saved.
